If you are responsible for assessing drug and alcohol use or abuse in your professional role, this course will provide an overview of the components necessary for a general drug and alcohol assessment. Accurate assessment is very important in a variety of clinical and allied health settings, especially if the client is about to undergo a medical procedure or could harm themselves or others.

  • The knowledge and skills required to take a comprehensive drug and alcohol history
  • The broad issues that underpins and ensures a comprehensive assessment
  • The signs of drug and alcohol use
  • Specific social groups including children; pregnant women; domestic violence
  • The importance of screening for blood-borne diseases
